ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (Asus), India today announced its partnership with Redington India for its notebook business in India. The tieup was finalized in April 2006 and will be formally signed next week.
Under the agreement, Redington, which is already one of the major distributors for Asus’ component business, will also take care of the after-sales service at major locations across India apart from sales.
According to Richard Chen, business manager, notebook business, Asus India, “The Asus team feels excited to tie up with Redington in notebook business. With mutual trust, benefit and sharing, I am sure that this alliance will bring about success and increasing rewards for more channel partners and notebook users.”
J. S. Kulkarni, CEO, Redington India, added, “Asus is a quality notebook manufacturer with strong presence in some international markets. It is a fairly new player in the Indian notebook market, and partnering with Redington will provide the brand with the necessary reach and will create a win-win situation for all. The notebook market is exploding and there are many new opportunities which this partnership can address.”
Asus entered the Indian notebook market in October 2005 and has since introduced various new models in the market including the latest U5 series environment-friendly notebook computers and the dual-core technology based notebooks.
The company is presently concentrating on its notebook business in the premium and mainstream categories. The notebooks are targeted at business users as well as end-consumers.
Redington serves more than 8,000 IT resellers covering over 450 cities all over India.
