D-Link, the provider of networking products, announced it will be marketing its passive range of products worldwide under the new brand name Digi-Link with immediate effect. The active range of networking products will continue to be available under D-Link to the customers.
K. R. Naik, chairman & managing director, D-Link (I), said, “Nothing has changed except the brand name for the passive range. In the structured cabling segment D-Link is a much admired brand and I am confident that this transition to Digi-Link will only help strengthen it further.”
The decision to market its passive range of products under another brand name seems to have come to avoid confusion regarding the new products that D-Link hopes to launch in the near future in its passive range.
A D-Link spokesperson said, “We were earlier marketing our passive range in small numbers, but now, Digi-Link is a registered brand name and all the exports will also take place for this range under the new brand.” This will, in effect, create a separate identity for the passive range of products from the active range.
Milind Tamhane, VP-manufacturing, D-Link (I), said, “We have been developing the latest technology products in structured cabling systems like Power over Ethernet, CAT-6A, and 10G over copper products. Thanks to our strong R&D, manufacturing setup and tieups with world leaders in similar technologies, we are equipped with the latest solutions in copper, fiber and voice cabling products.”
The entire range of structured cabling products and all other D-Link (I) passive products will be available under Digi-Link in India through the same distribution network of D-Link (I).
