Do You Have A Plan?

Plan

__p As the year draws to an end, it’s heartening to note the enthusiasm that the IT community has for the next calendar year. While 2004 was the year that saw the buyer return to the IT market, year 2005 is expected to take this growth one level higher. All segments of the IT trade — PC, networking, peripherals and component manufacturers — see their product portfolio and market reach get wider and broader in the New Year.

p____p In the “Business Leader 2004″ special issue, 360 Magazine invited the top executives of 10 leading IT companies to share their vision for the New Year. And the outlook is extremely positive. Notebooks will maintain the bullish flavor of 2004, while PC sales will increase thanks to the expected marginal drop in prices. Digital cameras will click right into the cash register and technology will gain a faster first-to-market momentum than it has ever seen before. All this augurs well for sellers of technology products.

p____p But the catch lies in harnessing the growth correctly. While most manufacturers have got the plan for year 2005 in place, the channel is still working in the present. Little, if any, thought is given as to what businesses to specialize in, or focus on, next year. Now is the time to do it. There will be a lot happening next year. VAT will make its presence felt, zero duty on IT imported goods will be enforced and partners will be swamped with goods from manufacturers few would have heard of.

p____p It is essential to get Plan 2005 in place now. If you know what your goal is then it’s easier to focus in the wake of distractions. India is a growing market and every sector and product has a lucrative future, but to get maximum advantage you have to learn how to tap an opportunity and convert it into revenue.

p____p Or else it will be like owning a goldmine without even a shovel to help you get to the treasure.
