New Delhi: Homegrown handset maker, Hyve Mobility has introduced Prymee, its new smartphones in the Indian market, which comes at a price of Rs 17,999. While the company has designated Amazon as its exclusive dealer, it is also looking at traditional channel partners’ networks with a 2 tier model, the company said at the recent launch event in New Delhi.
Aditya Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Hyve Mobility mentioned at the launch, that even though Amazon India remains their main reseller of their product, it is also looking at offline channel partnerships for distribution and is in talks with a set of regional distributors, who in turn would address local retailers.
In October, the handset maker announced its new flagship smartphone to be launched in an exclusive partnership with Mediatek next month. This new 5.7-inch phablet sized device with enterprise grade operational capabilities, is powered by Mediatek’s Helio X20 processor with a ‘Deca-core’ architecture.
Agarwal explained, “We are one of the few companies in India who incorporates the latest SoC’s and offers Stock Android with Google Certification in our phones. We are an innovation driven organization and are committed to bring in more and more industry disrupting technologies to the market.”
“MediaTek’s collaboration with Hyve is a benchmark for both organisations as we bring forward our best technologies to develop and deliver outstanding smartphone experience for the consumers,” Arthur Wang, Senior Director, Corporate Sales International, MediaTek said.
With the GST(Goods & Services Tax) being targeted to be implemented across the the country from April 2017, the market scenario for companies like Hyve is expected to change, as it depends on it’s supply chain to take it’s products directly to the customers.
“It is a positive move, and was long awaited. The implementation of the GST will help us leverage a lot of the interstate business, due to the fact that there will be uniformity of price across the country.”
The ‘One product One Price’ strategy will also bring in uniformity in earnings of the company, whichever region it may choose to sell it’s products in. The presence of different tax structures across states, bought in a lot of ambiguity, which could now be a thing of the past.
By March 2017, Agarwal said, the company is expecting to sell between 25,000 and 30,000 pieces of its new handset.
While the numbers seem to be low, the physical distribution of the product across offline channels is not really expanding due to the concentration on some select markets across the country at present.
Hyve is also not looking to over promise and under delivery on the numbers game. In fact, Agarwal was admitted that they are happy with those sales target numbers. Nevertheless, Hyve will seek new product distribution partnerships across the country, in the Delhi-NCR market, as well as Kerala and Karnataka in the coming months.
