AMD Invited For Manufacturing In Telangana

AMD has also briefed the minister on his visit to the company’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California about its goals to set up as well as inflate operations in virtual reality, gaming and computer graphics.

The minister has also asked the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Mark Papermaster to consider partnering with the proposed IMAGE city in the state. The company has said that its new processor offering, Zen has been completely manufactured in the capital of Telangana and played a vital role in enhancing the graphics of movies like Bahubali.

The company aims to work in close collaboration with Tollywood and other film industries in the graphics segment. In a joint effort to bolster R&D in the graphics segment, the minister has also urged the company to partner with premier educational institutions like BITS, NIT, IIT-H, IIIT-H etc.

Since the firm gave top priority to R&D, he requested it to partner with premier educational institutes of State like including the IIT-H, IIIT-H and Basara, BITS and NIT. AMD representatives had shown keen interest in the proposed VLSI Academy and promised to consider joining it.

Quite recently, AMD in a bid to compete with its arch rival, Intel unveiled its new generation of chipsets for notebooks. The company also rolled out its 7th-generation chips earlier this month, claiming them to be significantly faster than its predecessors.

The AMD FX 9830P chips are being touted as 56 percent faster than AMD’s previous notebook processors. The company also claims that its new line of processors offers 53 per cent faster graphics as compared to Intel’s i7 CPU series.
