__p The channel is in for some very interesting times.
p____p The onset of the festival season comes with a promise of increased sales figures. But to get there, you have to wait out the shrad period – the dry spell when buyers retreat from the market. But this slump is expected and anticipated, and so there are no long debates and discussions. And more importantly, it doesn’t create any panic.
p____p It’s a good strategy to use in the macro-business environment too. The uncertainties at this level are many. As two of the largest distribution houses in the country prepare to merge, the worry about credit going out of the market is gaining momentum. The impending zero-duty regime has the trade worried about cheap importers and uneven pricing. The worries are many, the solutions few.
p____p But just as the shrad gives way to the jubilant buying spree of the festive season, so also will the macro-economic problems find a solution. I am not saying that the problems will disappear or are minor in anyway. But sometimes it pays to focus on the present. And the current market feedback is that there is plenty to look forward to this year.
p____p Consumer spending is on a high. The IT market is on a roll. So focus on today, tomorrow has a way of taking care of itself.p__
