Puducherry: In a bid to create awareness on various digital payment options among small merchants and channel partners, the Puducherry IT Association [ITTA-PDY] actively participated in “Digi Dhan Mela” organized by the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) recently in Puducherry.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness to digital payment service providers, partners, consumers and merchants and acquaint them about means and ways of digital transactions. The Puducherry IT Association actively participated at the event to create awareness and exposure on how one can use electronic payment mode, instead of cash to get various government services. Puducherry is one among the 100 cities selected in the country to conduct the event.
Around 10 members of ITTA-PDY have been provided two spacious stall to show case their products associated with electronic mode of payments and explain the necessity and need of the hour of cashless transaction to all walk-ins.
According to the association, this Digi-Dhan mela has taken ITTA-PDY closer to all different walks of people. “The event was like a seminar- cum-camp to book all merchants cashless electronics devices and its usage drive. The mela brought small scale vendors, traders, service providers and consumers on the same platform; teaching them methods of cashless transactions and how to get registered to use services, get Aadhaar enrolment, making corrections in Aadhaar numbers and host of others.”
The event focused on ways and benefits of the system and also addressed concerns regarding payments and commissions charged by the respective organisations. The administration has made arrangements to see to it that people will be able to interact with the service providers and learn about the operations of the same.
For this, more than 25 stalls including that of banks, oil marketing, traders association, Information Traders Technology Association, fertilizer companies, Central and State Government departments, telecom companies, mobile wallet operators, and cooperative banks wasset up for the visitors.
The Digi-Dhan program participation has been backed by the Puducherry IT Association President-Arun Subbu Rangan, Secretary-Prabhakar and Team.
A letter has also been handed over to Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to consider waive off 100% on card swiping machine charges that are been levied by bankers. Besides, GeMS – In purchases done by state government through GEMS the local vendors should given the first preference so that the products can be procured locally which will ensure the health of our members which is essential for support services in ITeS initiatives.
