California-based Vu Technologies, a luxury technology brand which researches, develops and manufactures high-end computers, LCD displays and digital homes, has opened an retail outlet in Mumbai. The brand has been brought to India exclusively by Zenith Computers.
Vu’s flagship store in Mumbai’s CR2 Mall carries Vu branded systems and displays and has a ‘Gadget Bar’ that sells the latest in
luxury technology.
Devita Saraf, CEO, Vu Technologies, said, “We believe that the world of technology can be very exciting and purchasing high-end technology will become retail therapy for the next generation. Our products are the outcome of our new product development lab, cutting-edge innovation, sleek product design and unparalleled customer service.”
The company has a product development lab in India, located at Andheri.
Elaborating on the concept of a Gadget Bar, Saraf said, “The Gadget Bar is where customers will get unique gadgets from across the world, as well as Vu designed products. The bar format is the first in the world where a customer can relax and check out the products and get a personalized demo of each gadget over a snack or soft drink.”
One of the big attractions in the Vu store is the Digital Home. This Rs 1 lakh computer has a simple user interface and is the perfect blend of a computer, a communication system and a consumer electronic, the company said.
On the viability of a new brand in the Indian market, Saraf said the initial response has been excellent. “The market is opening up, and so are minds. Besides, we have a world-class product and customers are wanting to get attached to the brand.”
Vu also retails LCD displays from 7″ to 47″, Skype products, Bluetooth-based products and a range of Apple products. The 32″ LCD costs Rs 65,000 MRP.
All the after-sales service for the products will be provided by Vu Technologies. The company intends to open 30 stores across India by December 2007.
