Mumbai: International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners (IAMCP) India West Chapter recently organized a workshop on Azure Data Backup and Disaster Recovery for its members. The event was focused on business opportunities for partners around Azure Data Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions. Senior Microsoft executives provided in-depth information to IAMCPA members in knowledge packed sessions.
Mandar Kulkarni, Director of Cloud and Datacenter Programs at Microsoft, introduced the concept of Data backup and Disaster Recovery using Azure and highlighted the partner opportunities. Rao Rajendra Singh, Global Black Belt for Cloud Infrastructure and Specialist in Business Continuity, Microsoft took a Deep Dive session on Disaster Recovery and Azure Backup. About 28 Partners attended the event.

Microsoft is heavily focusing on Azure Backup and the Operations Management Suite (OMS) protect cloud and on-premises backups from ransomware attacks. The company has recently announced free Azure skill training and certification to channel partners to help support their growth. The new training courses are available in a self-paced online learning environment. In a blog post, the company said that the Azure Backup is the best-equipped platform for protecting backup data on-premises and in the cloud.
IAMCP is an independent association of Microsoft partners with presence in 40+ countries. IAMCP’s focus is to enable partners with Microsoft technologies and facilitate collaboration between them. The India West Chapter is active in Mumbai and Pune. IAMCP West chapter currently has 40 members spread across Mumbai and Pune. Apart from West chapter, IAMCP has South and Hyderabad chapter as well.

Talking with Channel Times, Akshay Shah, Secretary, IAMCP India West chapter shared the key thrust areas of the association in 2017. “This year we will focus more on partner enablement around Azure expertise. We will organize more training workshops on Azure, Data backup and recovery and IaaS. Another thrust area is scaling up Pune partner base and help our members enhance their cloud competencies.”
