Ex-Microsoft MD Karan Bajwa To Join IBM

Former Microsoft veteran Karan Bajwa is set to join enterprise IT major IBM. Karan Bajwa, the former managing director of Microsoft, stepped down from the company in June this year. The appointment of Bajwa is expected to boost sale of IBM products and solutions in India.

Bajwa tweeted that he is a reborn IBMer. “Starting my second innings at IBM, a company that earlier taught me the first principles of business”, he tweeted on 4th June.

According to the report published in BusinessLine, Karan Bajwa would be the second in command reporting to Vanitha Narayanan, managing director of IBM India. IBM aims to enhance transformational deals in India using expertise of Bajwa.

Earlier in June, Microsoft Spokesperson reportedly confirmed that Bajwa was leaving Microsoft to pursue an opportunity outside Microsoft. “We confirm that Karan Bajwa, managing director of our sales and marketing group, has decided to pursue an opportunity outside Microsoft after spending nine successful years with us,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Economic Times.

Bajwa served as managing director for Microsoft’s sales and marketing group for a period of 9 years. He joined Microsoft in 2007 and was appointed Managing Director of sales and marketing operations in 2013. He was instrumental in establishing Microsoft’s Azure and Office 365 business in India.

Bajwa has a long history in the IT industry and he’s spent over 25 years working for the likes of CISCO and IBM before joining Microsoft. Earlier, Bajwa had a stint with IBM and was based out of Singapore.

He’s worked on business development and marketing as well as on building strategic partnerships with platform and channel partners. He has also worked with the telecommunication and system builder community.
