Cyberoam Strengthens SME Focus with New UTM Series

cyber

Many of us have recently gone through the 2009 Security Predictions made by Arun Chandrasekaran and Edison Yu of Frost & Sullivan, which categorically says, “SMB (Small & Medium Business) spending would continue to witness a modest increase.” The paper also communicates, “The weakened business environment will also encourage more SMBs to be cautious. Two broad trends that could be expected in the SMB segment are – the continued migration to the Unified Threat Management (UTM) platform and increased adoption of ‘in the cloud’ services.”

I was recently talking to Hemal Patel,  the  CEO of Elitecore Technologies – the provider of Cyberoam Identity-based UTM appliances who recently received the Frost & Sullivan award for Emerging Security Vendor of the Year  for 2008. According to Patel – while the overall IT security market is growing by around 30-35% year on year (YOY), the average growth in the UTM market is 50% YOY.

Cyberoam is finding  good demand for security products among Indian SMEs and large enterprises. As most of the SMEs  are catered by Value Added Resellers (VARs), the VARs are scouting for comprehensive SME solutions that provide value for money.

While offering comprehensive protection against existing and emerging blended security threats, including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, phishing, pharming, Cyberoam realized the need for performance enhancement by introducing Multicore technology. The vendor’s recent launch of  CR200i and  CR500i is a bid to cater to the rising demand for the comprehensive medium size companies – to satisfy the growing demand for the comprehensive security in the SME sector with high Return on Investment (ROI). Obviously, it is an advantage for the VARs, who are looking at catering to SMEs of this size (~300 users).

Introduction of this brand new range of CR200i and CR300i products reflects the company’s clear intention to gain a competitive edge – in meeting increased performance demand, network security consolidation, Web 2.0-security and higher information protection requirements of SMEs.

Contextually, Cyberoam delivers the complete range of security features such as stateful inspection firewall, VPN, gateway anti-virus, gateway anti-malware, gateway anti-spam, intrusion prevention system, content filtering – in addition to bandwidth management and multiple link management over a single platform. The company’s appliances are completely scalable too. Will the VARs utilize the new opportunity to partner the growth of the Indian SMEs?
