C-COM Corporation, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of broadband access equipment with xDSL expertise, has launched its new generation PAMSPAN family of leased line modems and routers in the Indian market through its authorized national distributor NetAxcess Solutions Limited.
The PAMSPAN family of products is ideal for businesses and Internet Service Providers (ISP) to provide LAN server and Internet access to areas where copper pair shortages exist within the public telephone network. Their flexibility makes it ideal for applications such as web hosting, videoconferencing and heavy two-way data traffic needed in the business environment, the company said.
NetAxcess will make these high-technology network equipment available to the target segment directly and through its network of channel partners and wide value-added reseller base spread across the country. The distributor, as an existing practice, will also undertake system integration projects wherein the PAMSPAN range of products are a fit as it has the required expertise and manpower to provide complete solutions.
According to Mahendra Lalwani, director, NetAxcess Solutions, “With competitive price points, C-COM’s product range offered by NetAxcess is an attractive proposition for network managers looking to buy xDSL broadband access equipments that are world-class and yet fit into their budgets.”
The PAMSPAM family of products made available in India by NetAxcess essentially includes three products – PAMSPAN 2000, PAMSPAN 3000 and PAMSPAN 5000.
The PAMSPAN 2000 leased line modem implements Trellis Coded Pulse Amplitude Modulation (TC-PAM) scheme and supports full duplex symmetric data rate of Nx64 Kbps over twist pair line. It comes in three different models: standalone, rack mount and chassis model.
The standalone and the rack mount models can be configured as CO (central office) or CPE (customer premises equipment) mode to deploy in point-to-point application environment. While the chassis model in the CO mode supports multi-point and hybrid networking interface (E1/T1/V.35/Ethernet) application scenario. Maximum transmission distance that can be reached using PAMSPAN 2000 is 7 km with data transmission rate of 64 Kbps over a 24 AWG cable. Positioned as the most cost-effective solution for T1/E1 line replacement and priced at Rs 60,000, it comes with menu-driven console management, upgradeable firmware, and log-in and password security protection.
The PAMSPAN 3000 G.SHDSL router is designed for small and medium-sized businesses to access the Internet and remote office networks by providing a cost-effective high-speed alternative to replace expensive leased-line services. At Rs 30,000 as end-user price, it provides a dual channel SHDSL Loop, which is capable of full duplex and symmetric transmission rate up to 2.3 Mbps (2/4 wire mode) and 4.6 Mkbps, depending on the application needed. By providing user-friendly and easily configured interface, users can easily configure it via TELNET, Web Management, dip-switches and buttons on the back panel.
Another router in the PAMSPAN family, the PAMSPAN 5000 takes advantage of the latest G.SHDSL.bis technology – Extended Rate Bonded SHDSL unfolds numerous possibilities for symmetric transmission. Its multi-pair bonding, higher bit and packet transport allow carrying symmetric data rates up to 5.69 Mbps, 11.38 Mbps, or 22.76 Mbps over 2/4/8 wire of ordinary telephone lines, respectively at the same reach range. With user-friendly management mechanism present, PAMSPAN 5000 can easily be configured via interfaces, such as TELNET, Web GUI, etc.
“For effectively distributing the C-COM range of products in the country, we are planning to add more channels and welcome system integrators and VARs with data networking experience into our fold,” added Lalwani.
