Chicago-headquartered Cambium Networks is planning to make inroads into the tier II and III cities in India.
Connectivity has become crucial part for everyone’s life, targeting this need, Cambium provides wireless broadband solutions that can be used in cities, as well as dense forests or mountains, leveraging WiFi and other technologies used by telcos to improve internet connectivity.

“There is demand for broadband services in these regions and we see triple digit revenue growth this year,” said Atul Bhatnagar, President and CEO, Cambium Networks, a former Motorola employee. The company being privately held does not disclose revenues as reported by Business Line.
“Rugged and remote landscapes won’t support fiber deployments. Our solutions aid in connecting people, places, and things where it is not practical to deploy fiber technology,” added Himanshu Motial, VP, Sales, APAC, Cambium. The company is under process of creating rural broadband pilot project with RailTel For 3,800 Villages in Madhya Pradesh and counts corporates such as Jindal, Essar, ONGC, IndianOil, Hindalco as some of its clients.

As the need for broadband is heating up in India, with 4G- 5G and other kinds of technologies coming in thus many foreign based technology company are trying their hands in the Indian network connectivity business. Recently, the $1.4-billion US-based ViaSat Inc approached the Centre for permission to provide high speed internet broadband to homes using satellite and is talking to the government for changing the open sky regulations, which it believes could connect millions to broadband internet.
