EON Electric Ltd. (formerly Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd. incorporated over 5 decades back), today launched its ‘Energy Efficiency Yatra’ from its corporate office in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The campaign aims to create awareness about energy efficiency and the national need to minimise energy consumption through use of energy-efficient electrical lighting products.
The initiative is in line with the Government’s vision to promote energy efficiency through use of efficient electrical products such as LED bulbs under the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) as well as LED tubes and LED street lights.
The campaign is being undertaken through a specially-outfitted Van that will traverse the National Capital Region (NCR), Haryana, Punjab, Western and Eastern UP and Bihar. Through this initiative, EON will focus on educating the consumers, electricians and electrical contractors, who are the prime contact points, regarding adoption of energy-efficient electrical products. It will also provide architects, dealers and distributors with value added product information catering to their demand.
“As a socially responsible corporate, we are fully committed to the cause of energy efficiency. We strongly support the Government’s vision to promote use of LED lighting as well as other energy-efficient solutions across the country to reduce energy consumption. Lighting sector accounts for close to 20 per cent of the total energy consumption in India. Currently, most of the lighting requirements in domestic and public lighting sector are met by inefficient, conventional, incandescent bulbs. Hence, there is a need to spread awareness about ways to bring about energy efficiency in the lighting sector,” said V P Mahendru, Chairman and Managing Director, EON Electric Ltd. while speaking on the occasion.
“With the mobile Van campaign, EON intends to spread the message of energy efficiency among consumers and make them aware about the new, innovative technologies as well as advantages of using eco-friendly products for the conservation of power and safety of environment,” said Anil Mujoo, Vice President Sales & Marketing, EON when talking about the initiative.
