HP’s India Software Operations Gets SEI CMM Level 5 Certification

__p Hewlett-Packard announced that Bangalore based Systems Technology Lab, STL, a part of its India Software Operations, ISO, has achieved the prestigious CMM Level5 certification from the Software Engineering Institute, SEI, at Carnegie Mellon University, USA.p____p System Technology Laboratory, STL, is an R&D center for Enterprise Systems and a part of HP�s worldwide product development of HP9000 and HP3000 platforms. It focuses on core technology areas such as operating systems, networking compilers and database technology.p____p STL endeavors to seek higher standards within the HP worldwide network of R&D centers and labs. It comprises a 170 plus team of software engineers who have been participating in successful development projects.p____p Said director, HP-ISO, Subrahmanyam Vempati; “The evaluation was conducted by a team of 12 assessors for over two weeks on various parameters to ascertain our process Capability Maturity.”p____p SEI, a US federally funded research and development center, set up in 1984 by the US government, is an integral part of the Carnegie Mellon University. It conducts quality certification for software engineering companies around the world, assessing organizations.p____p So far, only 28 organizations worldwide have been able to achieve Level5 certification.
