Microsoft appoints Redington and Avnet as Value Added Distributors

Microsoft India said that it has appointed Avnet and Redington as its ValueAdded Distributors (VAD) in the country.

According to the company the move is targeted to create an enhanced and superior level of service for partners and customers in the SMB space on the latest technologies.

“Avnet and Redington both have experience and expertise in the providing services and products for virtualization, Unified Communications, security and cloud and we are confident that they will help us strengthen our support to customers specifically, in for small and mid-enterprises to capture increased market share,” said Rajiv Sodhi, Director, India SMB at Microsoft.

The Value-added distribution role is built on a unique business model with a specialized resource portfolio optimized for increasing adoption and market development of specialty solutions.

Avnet provides our channel partners with the technology and resources needed to successfully address this market opportunity with its signature SolutionsPath methodology under VirtualPath. With Microsoft’s inclusion our intent is to diversify and grow our virtualization practice and in turn that of our channel partners’ thus accelerating their success”, said Naresh Desai, General Manager, Avnet India.

Under this tie-up, Avnet will provide complete solutions to Microsoft’s value added resellers for ‘Virtualization & Management and Identity & Security’ and Redington will cater for ‘Unified Communications, Security and Cloud Services’ and would reach out to all cities across India, adding reach and presence portfolio of Microsoft.

“We will drive the VAD business through focused VARs; exploiting the huge opportunity available for the VARs to build the solution selling motion on Microsoft solutions by leveraging on Redington’s resources,” said R Venkatesh, Head-Strategic Business Unit, Redington (India) Limited.

He added that Redington aims to be a one-stop shop for VARs to provide total solutions to their SMB and mid-market customers using the complementary products and solutions along with Microsoft offering.

Microsoft said that the VAD program will enable resellers and service providers drive future growth while maintaining a profitable revenue stream by capitalizing on increasing demand and by being able to deliver enhanced technology solutions.
