UP Commercial Taxes Department Sends Notice To Online Portals

Allahabad, June 9: Based on the appeal made by State IT association of Uttar Pradesh (UPCDA) to the state government, Uttar Pradesh Commercial taxes department has reportedly sent notices to all the major ecommerce portals including Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Yebhi, eBay, Shoppers stop and others.

In the notice, the tax department has asked these online portals about the status of online sale in the state. The department had learnt that these portals were selling their products without paying service and VAT taxes to the tax department. This evasion of taxes by these online portals was first brought to notice to tax departments by the local IT traders association, who been facing business loss due to these online portals.
