Chennai, Oct 16: In recent times, the industry has witnessed several complaints from among channel partners over the issue of in-warranty replacement of products manufactured by Taiwanese memory and consumer electronics giant Transcend.
When Channel Times approached some of the partners, they confirmed that sentiment was indeed low over the replacement issue with one of them claiming that ‘bad memories’ is what customers are now carrying of Transcend – a pun on the company’s brand statement ‘Good Memories Start Here’.
Following repeated escalations by the community and Channel Times, the problem appears to have attracted the attention of the Taiwanese giant. Chennai-based service partner Accel Frontline has now committed to releasing the replacement stock on a first-in, first-out basis.
In a statement, Accel Frontline Chief Operating Officer Maqbool Hassan said, “Transcend Taiwan is not shipping the required replacement units for warranty support in India due to short supply from their OEMs… Whatever stock we receive from them, we will release it to Transcend customers on a first-in first-out basis.”
The issue was escalated to Hassan by Channel Times following a chat with Coimbatore-based Ozone Computers officials who brought it to the limelight. Ozone’s Chief Executive Officer Mahesh R. Kurup had brought the matter into public domain following a spurt of complaints he received.
On his part, Maqbool Hassan further noted that Accel Frontline was not collecting warranty defectives from Transcend customers at present due to some weakness in the Taiwanese company’s supply chain.
Following the statement from Accel Frontline, there is hope among channel partners that this long pending issue would be sorted out soon.
