This week brought some crucial updates for channel partners. IT Security company ESET has finally reacted to the problems faced by channel partners due to the deactivation of product keys supplied some months ago. Reacting to a report published on Channel Times last week titled “Virus Alert Sounded In ESET India Distribution System”, officials from the company’s Singapore office said that its new vendor would be responsible for resolving any such issues.
Globally, in what could be one of the biggest acquisition deals in the distribution space, US based distribution major Tech Data Corporation has announced to buy Arizona based Avnet for $2.6 billion, making it the third such deal in the distribution business during this year.
The ongoing Cauvery water-sharing row continued to hamper the channel business in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Also, the HP-Samsung printer business mergers have evoked mixed reactions from the channel. The channel is still confused over the integration of Samsung printer partners into the HP business.
Meanwhile, Cisco is considering to shift its focus from Intercloud to Hybrid cloud management. However, the company maintains that the shift will benefit the partners.
The declining demand for computers is compelling the channel partners to look beyond hardware and concentrate on the solutions and services. While many resellers have moved to the system integration business, there is still a lot of scope for partners here. And finally, in a bid to facilitate better engagement among partners, Microsoft association IAMCP India started a new chapter in Pune.
