Wipro and Intel have joined hands to launch i-shiksha, a low cost solution and technology, to meet the needs of the education segment in India.
p____p The i-shiksha solution provides interactive learning classroom offerings. It is an end-to-end solution with hardware and software building blocks, design support and system-level products such as servers, hubs, and switches.
p____p Launching the i-shiksha, Anil Jain, general manager, personal computing business, Wipro Infotech, said, “The launch is to further our commitment to the educational segment in India. This segment is growing at a fast pace and we see tremendous opportunity to address this market appropriately. Intel and Wipro have come together to provide the i-shiksha solution to this segment.”
p____p He added that i-shiksha provides low cost of ownership that is much lesser than the traditional networks, reduced maintenance of cost of student terminals and reduced software up gradation costs.
p____p Jayant Murthy, director, marketing, Intel India, said, “The i-shiksha solution from Wipro based on Intel technologies provides the right solution to the growing education segment in India both from price and performance stand point.”
p____p The i-shiksha solution consists of Wipro Netpower server powered by Intel Pentium 4 processor, 2.8 GHZ with HT technology as a teacher station.
p____p The solution has been so far launched in Coimbatore, Manipal, and Mysore. The cost of the machine will depend on the configuration of the set up.
