US based computer manufacturer, Dell has rolled out Aarambh, an initiative aligning with the government of India’s Digital India Programme. Under the new Pan India initiative, the company will focus on expanding the usage of PCs (Personal Computers) for education.
The initiative will also help students garner interactive ways of learning in their budding years, to ensure a holistic growth of a student.
“Arming them with new-age skills, enhanced learning and the power of technology, we want to help mould young minds so they are able to find a firm footing in a Digital India,” P. Krishnakumar, Dell India Vice President, Consumer and Small Business, said during the announcement of the project.
With Aarambh, Dell will target three key customer segments including students, teachers as well as parents via a sequence of activities to boost their trust and confidence in utilizing a Personal Computer.
The initiative also aims to enable both teachers and parents to contribute significantly in the educational development of the student, while utilizing a personal computer and creating an ecosystem as well as a supportive environment for the student.
Dell claims to target about one million students and 1,00,000 teachers across 5,000 educational institutions and about 2,00,000 parents in 75 cities pan India with Aarambh.
Computer makers in the recent past have been jolted with shrinking PC sales across the globe, compelling them to explore new revenue opportunities and markets. The home PC penetration has ceased at a mere 9-10 per cent, with Dell expecting to drive sales in the segment via the new initiative.
