Dell EMC Not Hastening Its Distribution Review

The company is taking a fairly relaxed approach to its distribution review with the vendor resisting the need to set a hard and fast deadline for a decision, reports Microscope.

The vendor has started to look at the number of distributors it works with both locally and globally in light of the bringing together of the Dell and EMC channels, states the report.

“Dell EMC plans to consolidate the list of distribution partners in the new program, and partner more closely with key global distribution partners who are placing bets on the company. Dell EMC will maintain a smaller set of local distribution partners by country,” the company clarified in a statement.

The integration of two entities (Dell-EMC) was a huge one, and perhaps does not want to hasten things at this initial phase.

This move by the firm has brought in several new parameters. In a blogpost, Dell EMC’s president of global channels, John Byrne said, Dell PartnerDirect Premier+ or EMC BPP Platinum partners will become Titanium partners, Dell PartnerDirect Premier or EMC BPP Gold will be Platinum and Dell PartnerDirect Preferred or EMC BPP Silver partners will fall into the Gold category.

If a partner was a Dell PartnerDirect Registered or EMC BPP Authorized they will be Authorized partners in the new program.

The company seems to take the channel partners through the new integration with a slow and steady approach to avoid commotion and ensure confidence.
