__p Was it bound to happen? A major hiccup occurred while trying to bridge ties between trade associations across the country. Nacit, slated to be the face of the Indian channel and a revolution of sorts, seems to have fallen flat on its face thanks mainly to the inactive and laidback mentality of channel associations across the country. The writing on the wall is loud and clear: unity and a mature channel is poised for disruption.
p____p While it has been easy to put the blame on individuals on whom the mantle rested, implementing the bold idea of channel unity was never meant to be a piece of cake. Nacit’s efforts to work with the channel was hardly lauded during its formative period, even while it was pushing to bring in a touch of professionalism and maturity in its operations. Rallying support for its cause seems to have been the hardest and most time-consuming despite the importance of this much needed initiative for the channel.
p____p Even as it grapples with internal changes and recurring channel issues, the abrupt departure of one of the most eagerly awaited ‘revolutionizing’ bodies will affect the channel in a major way if nothing is done to improve trade relations within the industry. By all accounts, the trade is wounded without a unified representation. In a space where the channel seemed to have held sway, the sole national body seems to have suffered from the same problems that it was trying to solve all along: intra-association conflict, poor support and fulfillment problems.
p____p Issues plaguing the channel aren’t new, but henceforth it will continue to persist even more, unless serious effort to revive comes forth. All said and done, the Indian IT trade industry has a massive hill to trudge.
p____p This edit does not intend to wipe off Nacit in anyway, rather we are hopeful that there will be a surge of interest within members to bring it back to the fore once again, if the IT trade deems fit to hold far-sighted goals and survive for a long time to come.
