In a bid to manage and consolidate data effectively, Mumbai-based Apar Industries has adopted HP’s solutions. The company offers value added products and services in power transmission conductors and petroleum specialties. It has strong individual databases for each department and more than 80% of its data was stored in multiple database servers. The company used to spend most of its technically-productive time in identifying particular components of data that are vital at a given point of time.
With growing need of data management, Apar deployed SAP ERP 6.0 on HP’s Integrity Servers with HP-UX 11i V2 platform along with HP StorageWorks EVA4000 SAN Storage. The clustering software used, HP’s Serviceguard extension for SAP, provided the necessary application-level failover protection. The backup of data was completed via an MSL 2024 tape library through TAR BACKUP software. SAP ERP 6.0 modules implemented included modules for Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Material Management (MM), Products & Planning (PP) and Sales & Distribution (SD).
“HP’s solution was deployed and the company observed negligible downtime. What’s most impressive is that the entire implementation comes pre-connected and ready-to-use, so at the deployment location, the time taken to get it up and running is minor. After deploying HP’s EVA, cataloguing, sorting and storing this data has become systematic and retrieval swift and smooth,” said G S Rao, Apar’s IT head.
As per the company, HP’s solutions have resulted in a faster and more secure data cataloging and retrieval.
