Home-grown company Intex looks at garnering 40 percent growth and Rs 140 crore in revenues from its accessories business. The accessories segment at present mainly consists of unbranded products.
The company at present manufactures products in this category which includes power banks and chargers.
“Our accessories business has already clocked revenues of Rs 100 crore last year. We have seen a strong acceptance of our products that is dominated by the grey market,” PTI quoted, Intex Technologies Business Head (Mobile Accessories) Manish Gupta as saying.
“In the next quarter, we are looking at products like laptop batteries, wireless power banks etc. We are really aggressive about this segment and we are looking at gaining a share of 15 per cent,” he said.
With this products category pegged to hit the market, Intex realises that it needs to pump up the channel ecosystem even further.
The company is working towards developing a distribution and after sales support network. It has also created almost 20 Master Intex Care partners, 100 plus Exclusive Service Partners along with that it has also created 1200 plus other Serice Partners called ICPs or Intex Care Partners.
According to industry analysts, the accessories market is growing at 20-30 percent every year.
While the mobile phone accessories market is expected to garner $107.3 billion by 2022, as per an Allied Market study.
“Mobile phone accessories assist in enhancing the user’s experience with mobile phones. At present, mobile phones are equipped with multiple functions such as clicking pictures, web accessing, listening to music, and storing data. Consumers improve and increase the value of their mobile phones with the help of different mobile accessories such as protective cases, headphones, USB cable, power banks, chargers, portable speakers, memory cards, and selfie stick,” it said.
