The Maharashtra government is contemplating to collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to make Pune a startup hub of India. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government was keen to associate with AWS to build an ecosystem of startups in Pune.
“Pune has the capacity to become a start-up hub of India. The domain expertise of AWS and government endeavor, we can create wonders of world in Pune”, said Fadnavis addressing the audience at AWS summit in Mumbai held on Monday.
The state government would provide all help necessary to entrepreneurs to do business in Pune. Fadnavis said that the city has the right ecosystem and can emerge as the start-up capital of the country.

AWS has announced the launch of its first India data centers in Mumbai. Global and Indian-based developers, startups, enterprises, government organizations, and non-profits can leverage the AWS Cloud to run their technology applications from infrastructure in India.
“Indian startups and enterprises have been using AWS for many years – with most Indian technology startups building their entire businesses on AWS, and numerous enterprises running mission-critical, core applications on AWS,” said Andy Jassy, CEO of AWS.
The CM hinted plans to associate with AWS on various eGovernance projects. However, he avoided to provide details of the partnership. “I think with the entry of AWS; the opportunities will scale up. I would like to offer AWS to partner with us in this transformation”, Fadnavis said.
The CM said that the digital revolution was key to success of the governance. In a bid to bring digital revolution in the rural education, the government has started education on digital platforms in 11000 villages in Maharashtra. The government has set up state an e-platform for monitoring the implementation of free health care to the poor by charitable hospitals.
“Digital revolution has the capacity to transform the entire landscape. Digital technologies such as payment gateways can transform the governance and Virtual Reality could transform the real estate industry. Similarly, Artificial Intelligence and Cloud computing can bring major reforms in the healthcare sector. I would like to assure that our state would like to engage with all new ideas which can reach to people”, he said.

As part of his strategy to transform Maharashtra into a digital state by 2019, Fadnavis has rolled out several crucial e Governance projects. The government through its e Governance portal AapleSarkar, aims to bring all the citizen services on a digital platform. MahaGov Cloud is a platform to provide cloud-based services to state departments. The move aims to facilitate speedy approvals of departmental purchases and bring a higher level of transparency in the system.
Fadnavis said that the state government has brought 150 services on a digital platform. The same services will be brought on mobile on 2nd October. The government targets to bring all the citizen services on a digital platform within a year.
“Digital revolution has the capacity to make the governance, efficient, transparent and accountable. India is the epicenter of digital revolution and with the help of various digital initiatives taken by the central government, we will transform the lives of people”, Fadnavis said.
