BARVL Establishes India’s Leading Robotic 3D Construction Printing Platform, Partners With Europe’s XtreeE

Robotic concrete printing cell to be commissioned in Q2 2027 at Astraya Experience Centre, Gurugram
Balaji Anant Raj Ventures Ltd. (BARVL) has partnered with XtreeE SAS, France, to bring Europe’s most advanced robotic 3D construction printing ecosystem (3DCP) to India, marking the first significant industrial deployment of the technology in the country. The system will be housed and operated under Astraya, BARVL’s knowledge infrastructure platform. The agreement covers the supply, commissioning, and technology transfer associated with the deployment of XtreeE’s robotic construction printing technology, including one complete robotic printing cell with infrastructure in place to scale to four systems.
The printing cell is built around XtreeE’s xHEAD, a proprietary print head, extrusion and control system integrated on a six-axis industrial robotic arm with material handling and printing. The system enables large-format printing of complex concrete geometries without conventional formwork, facade elements, structural components and non-standard architectural forms. The system will be commissioned in Q2 2027 at the Astraya Experience Centre in Sector 63A, Gurugram.
Aashman Sarin, Founder, Astraya, said, “The robots are the least interesting part of what we are building. What matters is the knowledge that surrounds them. The material research, the process data, the institutional memory, all of this makes each application smarter than the last. We chose XtreeE because the agreement includes technology transfer, not just equipment. Every print will generate data, every project will generate learning, and every insight will strengthen the next. That is the difference between acquiring a capability and building one.”
Dominique Corvez, President and CEO, XtreeE, said, “India is one of the world’s most exciting markets for construction innovation. Beyond delivering a robotic printing system, this partnership is about transferring knowledge on sustainable construction methods, building local capabilities and enabling a sustainable industrial ecosystem for digital construction. We are delighted to work with Astraya to support this long-term vision.”
The Constructory Lab brings research, material development and production under one roof. A configuration that does not currently exist in Indian construction at this scale. The intent is not to demonstrate 3D printing. It is to build the knowledge infrastructure that makes 3D printing compoundingly useful in the country by understanding how printed concrete behaves across different mixes, climates and structural configurations. Developing material specifications that can be transferred to the next project rather than rediscovered and training the engineers and researchers who will carry that knowledge into the industry.
Designed as a live demonstration and innovation hub, the facility will bring together material testing, robotic production and applied research, while bringing together industry, academia, researchers and policymakers a first-hand experience of next-generation construction technologies. The Experience Centre will showcase the technology in action, with the building itself incorporating components printed by the system it houses, before expanding deployments. Once operational, the system will immediately support Astraya’s residential projects, with institutional opportunities being explored as the next logical frontier.
