5 Reasons Why Partners Should Advise vOneCloud To CIOs

vOneCloud

There are a number of reasons for channel partners to push VoneCloud to their CIOs. Let’s hear from IT channel veteran T.S.Ravi Kumar

vOneCloud is an integrated private cloud management portal solution based on vSphere (as well as vCloud Director) and based on very simple concepts directly derived from our well-known VMware environments: networks, VM, templates, etc. vOneCloud also offers a hierarchical management of Virtual Data-centers and able to do multi-tenant via a classic Users and Groups system.

VOneCloud is a full web and responsive portal, without any plugin, whose very stripped interface is focused on the essential function and efficiency.

Comparison To vCloud on pricing:

The latest version of the vCloud Suite (5.8) brings all the components needed to build and manage a vSphere-based private cloud. The three product editions, Standard, Advanced and Enterprise, include vSphere Enterprise Plus and vCloud Director. According to VMware’s official price list, the average cost (including license and support) per server (2 processors) and year (license cost prorated in three years) of vCloud Standard is Rs.3,37,500 and Rs 3,62,370 for basic and production support level respectively.

vOneCloud requires vSphere (Standard edition is enough) and vCenter Standard. According to VMware’s official price list, the average cost (including license and support) per server (2 processors) and year (license cost prorated in three years) of vSphere Standard is Rs.75,000 and Rs. 81,000 for basic and production support level respectively.

If we add the cost of vCenter Standard (we consider a cloud consisting of 10 servers), the overall cost per server and year is Rs. 92,000 and Rs. 1, 00,000 for basic and production support level respectively. vOneCloud is free, open-source software, and the cost of an enterprise support subscription (we consider a cloud consisting of 10 servers) per server and year is between Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 35,000 for basic and premium support.

This reveals savings of more than Rs. 2, 00,000 a year per server using vOneCloud over vSphere/vCenter to build the cloud. The saving is much higher if you are using servers with more than 2 processors or building a cloud with more than 10 servers, given that vCloud licensing/support costs are per processor while vOneCloud support costs are per vCenter instance for unlimited number of processors and servers. For example, in infrastructures with 4-CPU servers, savings would be more than Rs 4, 15,000 per server and year. In a private cloud consisting of 10 servers, the saving would be between Rs20, 00,000 and Rs. 40, 00,000 a year.

5 Reasons To Suggest VOneCloud:

– vOneCloud provides all cloud orchestration and provisioning features of OpenNebula on top of your existing VMware environment.
– Simple portals for cloud consumers and administrators, virtual data center management and provisioning, data center federation, management of multiple vCenters, hybrid cloud computing with public clouds, resource consumption control…
– VOneCloud is available for free to download.
– The virtual appliance does not interfere in existing vSphere configurations, procedures and workflows.
– You can try it and if you decide not to adopt it, you can just delete it.
